Motiv Raptor Pursuit
The Raptor Pursuit was developed to fill a gap in MOTIV's high-performance lineup. Bowling balls designed for higher volumes of oil normally require plenty of traction in the front and middle part of the lane. However, this early reaction can consume energy and reduce the desired motion at the end of the lane. This is exactly where the Raptor Pursuit comes into play: it combines an extremely powerful core with a particularly clean pearl coverstock, creating impressive length and a powerful response downlane.
Inside the Raptor Pursuit is the Affliction V2 Core – the strongest symmetrical core in the MOTIV lineup. Its low RG helps the ball rev quickly, providing plenty of stability and control. At the same time, the high differential of .055 creates significant flare potential. While high-performance bowling balls often rely on asymmetrical cores, the Raptor Pursuit demonstrates how much performance can be achieved with a powerful symmetrical design.
Wrapped around the Affliction V2 Core is the Aerial Propulsion Pearl Reactive coverstock. The Propulsion coverstock system has established itself within MOTIV's pearl lineup for generating length and a quick response to friction. Aerial Propulsion Pearl is one of the cleanest covers in the Propulsion line, sitting directly behind the Dark Matter Propulsion coverstock found on the Nebula. This allows the Raptor Pursuit to travel exceptionally cleanly through the front of the lane, conserve energy and release it downlane.
The combination of the massive Affliction V2 Core and the clean Aerial Propulsion Pearl coverstock gives the Raptor Pursuit its distinctive character. The ball combines high flare potential and an early-revving core with plenty of length through the front and pronounced motion downlane. This makes it an interesting alternative when earlier-reading bowling balls use too much energy in the front part of the lane while a high-performance option is still required.
When should the Raptor Pursuit be used?
SPEED DOMINANT:
Players with higher ball speed can use the Raptor Pursuit on slightly drier lane conditions where its strong hook potential and pronounced backend response are needed. The high flare potential continuously brings fresh coverstock into contact with the lane, while the low RG helps the core rev quickly despite the clean coverstock.
BALANCED:
Balanced players get an early-revving yet angular bowling ball with the Raptor Pursuit. It is particularly suitable for situations where earlier-reading or smoother covers force the player farther inside but do not generate enough response downlane. In these situations, the Raptor Pursuit provides the required length and additional motion at the end of the lane.
REV DOMINANT:
Players with higher rev rates or lower ball speed get a clean and angular high-performance ball with the Raptor Pursuit. Compared with the Nebula, it is less violent when responding to angle and can therefore provide a more controllable alternative when a clean cover is required without an excessively aggressive backend response.
